Obesity has increased as adults sit long hours in front of office computers. Physical activity has decreased due to increased screen time and desk work. What is obesity?

March 4th is celebrated as World Obesity Day. That way obesity can be talked about openly. Obesity is a condition of excess body fat. This can lead to many health complications. Genetic, physical and environmental factors may contribute to obesity. Lack of exercise and an unhealthy diet are also major contributors to this condition. Add to that, lack of sleep, pregnancy, PCOS—there are a few conditions that can lead to imbalances in female reproductive hormones. Hypothyroidism, medications, stress, and osteoarthritis can also contribute to obesity.

Losing weight isn’t easy for everyone. However, by losing weight, you can definitely reduce some obesity-related diseases. To lose weight, lifestyle and diet changes must be made. But the dieting option should only be taken with the advice of a doctor.

What are the causes of obesity, know on World Obesity Day.

First let’s understand the common causes of weight gain

Burn more calories than needed

The energy value of food is expressed in calories. The average physically active man needs about 2,500 calories per day to maintain a healthy weight, and the average physically active woman needs about 2,000 calories per day. Consuming more calories can lead to obesity.

2 Bad eating habits

Diet and lifestyle are also likely to be the biggest contributors to the increase in obesity. Excessive consumption of processed and fast food is also harmful because these foods are high in fat and sugar. Drinking alcohol can also lead to weight gain because it contains a lot of calories. Drinking soda, overeating, and eating out all play a role in weight gain.

3 Reduced physical activity

Physical inactivity is another important factor associated with obesity. Many people’s jobs require sitting at a desk for most of the day. They also use their cars instead of walking or biking.

To relax, many people watch TV, surf the Internet or play computer games, but rarely do regular exercise.

Many women gain weight in their 30s or when they reach reproductive age. And some women suddenly start gaining weight after menopause.if

Here are the reasons why weight loss is not allowed even after exercise and proper diet

1 menopause

The hormonal changes of menopause can make your midsection more prone to fat. But it’s not necessarily only hormonal changes that cause menopausal weight gain. Weight gain depends on aging as well as lifestyle and genetic factors.

2 Endometriosis

One study found a relationship between endometriosis and weight gain. During the study, many people reported problems with weight gain and gas. Problems with endometriosis can cause weight gain or difficulty losing weight.

3 Hypothyroidism

The thyroid balances metabolism and regulates appetite. When thyroid levels are low, metabolism slows and the rate at which body fat is converted into energy becomes slower. Fat is not used for energy, which leads to weight gain.

4 Genetics

Some genes are responsible for obesity and overweight. For some people, these genes also affect how their body turns food into energy and stores fat. Genes can also influence people’s lifestyle choices.

Some rare genetic diseases can also lead to obesity, such as Prader-Willi syndrome.
