Kumar Sanu was completely mesmerised by Meenakshi Seshadri's beauty and had started dating her. Both of them had kept their relationship hidden for 3 years.
At that time, Kumar Sanu was married to Rita Bhattacharya. Soon his wife had sensed about Meenakshi and Kumar's extra-marital affair.
In an interview Kumar Sanu's secretary, had spilt the beans about his affairs. She had said, ''Kumar has many ‘girlfriends’ and for now, he is dating the popular actress Meenakshi Seshadri.''
Rita Bhattacharya had confronted Kumar about his affair with Meenakshi, to which he had clearly denied. But eventually, Kumar Sanu had acknowledged his affair with Meenakshi.
After knowing the truth, Rita and Kumar had parted ways in 1994. And with his divorce, Kumar, had parted his ways with Meenakshi too.

It is also said that, Meenakshi unintentionally had given hopes to Raj that she would someday say yes to him, as they had often went for long drives and had long telephonic conversations.
After Raj had financially helped Meenakshi with the film, 'Aag Aur Suhag', he went to meet her and in an argument he had told her mom that, he wanted to marry her daughter, not sleep with her.
Meenakshi had got to know about Harish Mysore through an interview. The journalist had told her that she has a brother, as Meenkashi had wanted to settle down.
