Since the morning of Holi, this voice has been ringing in the ears – Do not believe that Holi is the color. When we feel bad about something, we take it to heart. This means that our mind or mental health is affected. But as soon as we apply Holi colors on each other’s faces, all complaints will be forgotten. Our mind is full of happiness. Tension or stress is removed from us. Psychiatrists also say that Holi is good for our mental health. When we play Holi, our stress and anxiety are reduced. Do colors really affect our mind (Holi for mental health)? To find out, we spoke to Dr Isha Singh, Senior Clinical Psychiatrist and Director of Ananya Foundation.

Mental health experts share the benefits of playing with colors (colors for mental health)

1. Colour makes you feel relaxed

Dr. Isha explains, “Different colors make us feel good and calm. Bright colors can make you feel great. You are troubled by some problem and you play with different colors of Holi. So bright colors like red, pink, yellow help us express our emotions.Colors help evoke good and bad feelings.This also affects our behavior.

2. Effects of colors on the brain

The bright colors and full atmosphere of play during Holi can make one forget all the problems. Color brings a vibrant look to our lives. The lively atmosphere definitely calms and relaxes the mind.

3. Colors and brain connectivity

When we see bright colors, it acts as a catalyst for the brain. The brain is filled with good feelings. Bright colors represent the inner light and happiness within us. They make us happy. It improves mood. If you are facing any problem then be a part of Holi colors and atmosphere. Your personal preferences can work behind choosing a particular color. Everyone’s choice is different. But colors affect our brain.

4. What does the research say?

The effect of colors on mental health has been studied in the journal Frontiers of Psychology. Researchers Mayer and Robinson concluded that expressions of happiness, sadness, and anger all reflect states of mind.

People express their emotions by their association with colors. White is associated with happiness or purity. While grief or sadness is expressed by connecting to black and anger by connecting to red.

5. Effect of wavelength of colors

Let’s say someone else’s face turned red from anger, that’s it. Color directly affects physiology and increases alertness. This effect also depends on the wavelength of the colors. The wavelength of blue light relaxes the brain. Therefore, this color is associated with meditation.

6. Communication takes place in a social function

Dr. Isha says that we get another benefit from this celebration. On the occasion of Holi, we gather with our friends and family. They run after each other.
