How you feel about your body image has a direct impact on your mental health. At the same time, it can also affect your relationship. Many people are not satisfied with their bodies. One of the biggest reasons for this social divide is about body image. Some people are so insecure about their appearance that they are completely prepared to change it.

But not only women, but men today are more interested in their body image. We live in a society where men’s muscles and large bodies are admired and women’s thin bodies are admired. If a woman is overweight or a man is underweight, their body is presented as a negative body image.

This struggle will not leave him for the rest of his life. On the other hand, if anyone can keep you positive about body image, then that first person is your partner. As a partner, only a partner understands your body. In a situation like this, if one of your partners remains negative about their body image, you need to help them promote body positivity.

HealthShots spoke to Aishwarya Raj, a clinical psychologist at Stira, Gurugram, on this topic. He has said a lot about it. So let’s find out how to deal with a partner who has negative thoughts about his body.

Body image also plays an important role in romantic relationships.

Today’s boys especially care a lot about their muscles and body. On the other hand, no matter how healthy the body is, it can never be completely satisfied. But this is not the only cause of body dissatisfaction. According to experts, people often think that thin men are less attractive, and in general, muscular men are considered more masculine and attractive.

Men are often told to suppress their emotions, so not all men are able to open up. And if your partner doesn’t open up to you, then problems start in the relationship.

Body image issues affect both the quality and quantity of sexual intimacy. At the same time, people who have negative thoughts about their bodies also have a lot of problems in forming romantic relationships. In the absence of intimacy, the relationship begins to suffer.

2. Focus on positive growth of your body

If your partner has a negative body image, then it’s even more important to work on it and have positive thoughts within your body. At the same time, also appreciate the small developments in your partner’s body. This motivates them more towards body positivity.

3. Compliment your partner

Appreciating your partner is very important. In such a situation, reveal their physical image in front of them in a positive way. It shows that you have eyes to see beyond appearances. And with body positivity, you can tell your partner how helpful and loving they are.

5. Never make fun of your partner’s food choices and diet

In order to stay healthy, it is necessary to include the necessary nutrients in a balanced diet. But if your partner doesn’t, don’t make fun of their food choices or diet. You may not find their diet plan right.

In such a situation, avoid making fun of their diet. They may be very conscious about their diet, fitness and body size. Commenting on a partner’s eating habits can make him feel uncomfortable with his diet plan. Which can have a very negative effect on their body.
