In November 1906, Alois Alzheimer, a German psychiatrist, attended a psychiatric meeting in Tübingen. At the meeting, he presented a clinical picture of an unusual woman. Paranoid ideas, memory impairment and progressive dementia developed in the female brain. Alois revealed to the public that the autopsy showed undetected abnormalities in his brain.

How did Alzheimer’s disease get its name?

He designated these as neuritic plaques in the extracellular space and neurofibrillary tangles within neurons. He said this led to neurodegeneration and cell death. It caused dementia. Hearing his findings, colleague Emil Kraepelin immediately called the problem “Alzheimer’s disease”. Even after a century there is no cure for this disabling disease. Experts say that Alzheimer’s disease can be prevented by a good lifestyle.

So far, amyloid beta as a major component of plaque and phosphorylated tau within neurons have been identified as tangles. This accelerated the search for its biology. Alzheimer’s patients present to urologists with memory loss, personality and behavioral changes, and sometimes language skills and loss of visual-specialist skin.

Neurologists rely on brain imaging to explain regional shrinkage. They reduce the use of glucose to correlate clinical features.

therapy for Alzheimer’s disease

Several clinical trials using a drug to block amyloid accumulation extrinsically and intrinsically to reduce tau phosphorylation have failed in clinical trials. When symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease appear, medical attention becomes imperative.

Prescription drugs increase the brain’s failed production of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine and try to slow neural degeneration. Certain drugs are prescribed to control the disease.

The current view is that many paths lead to the dreaded form of bran failure. It is accepted that both neuronal degeneration and degeneration occur on a daily basis. Even if they are balanced.

Lifestyle changes are necessary to prevent Alzheimer’s disease

A person whose lifestyle does not include activities, who has not been treated for diabetes. Apart from them, people with high blood pressure and those who cannot sleep well in middle age. People who suffer from the sleep disorder sleep apnea are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease in a genetically susceptible person.

Regular cardiovascular exercises, healthy sleep, a balanced diet rich in vegetables and fruits, along with energizing and positive thoughts, are all investments in health that promote brain regeneration. People who are socially active, support their interests and passions, and have good oral hygiene are also neuroprotective. Keeping clean is also neuroprotective.

glyph system

A special sleep-driven secretion system has been discovered in the brain. This is called the ‘Glymphatic System’. This resulted in amyloid biology as a biomarker. The glymphatic system regularly secretes both amyloid and tau in normal individuals. Even a few nights of sleep deprivation can disrupt this balance negatively for the brain.

Therefore, sleep disorders such as sleep apnea may act as biological catalysts that accelerate the accumulation of amyloid and tau in the brain. Maintaining disciplined sleep hygiene and early treatment of sleep disorders can prevent the immediate risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

Celebrities have also fallen victim to the degenerative disorder

Many veterans with illustrious careers in the public domain have fallen victim to sleep deprivation due to professional compulsions. He developed Alzheimer’s disease. Names such as Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Agatha Christie, Charles Bronson, Omar Sharif, Rita Hayworth and Sean Connery are among those who succumbed to this devastating degenerative disorder when they were old enough.

It is clear that some of the by-products of civilization such as bad eating habits, too little sleep, the breakdown of the social fabric of the family, loneliness in old age are less recognized factors, which are incurable despite modern medicine. For this one must stop and introspect.
