Nowadays, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is becoming a very common problem among women. This is a hormonal problem that can trouble women of reproductive age. Many problems can be caused by PCOS, but 14-34% of women with PCOS are likely to develop acne. It is often seen that women suffering from PCOS due to acne make it a matter of self-confidence. Therefore, it is very important to diagnose the acne problem caused by PCOS. Acne problem caused by PCOS can also be cured with home remedies (how to get rid of pcos acne).

Understanding PCOS

In PCOS problems, periods are either short or continuous with heavy bleeding. In this condition, the level of the male hormone androgen increases in the body. This syndrome affects about 4-12% of women. This can increase the risk of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, heart problems, cancer and obesity.

PCOS acne is different from normal acne

Acne caused by PCOS is caused by an overproduction of the hormone testosterone. It stimulates sebum production in the skin. Generally, oil production begins to increase with the sebaceous gland. This oil blocks the skin pores. This causes acne and pimples. This acne is a more severe form of regular acne.

Instead of a surface bump, it forms a soft lump under the skin. A cyst-like structure begins to appear in the most hormonally sensitive areas of the skin. PCOS can also cause acne on the jaw, cheeks, chin and upper neck, chest and back. Cysts under the skin often cause more pain than regular acne.

In normal acne, the skin pores are blocked by dead skin cells. This blocks natural sebum, leading to breakouts on the skin. Due to the problem of PCOS, it is not possible to remove dead skin cells regularly.

Here are remedies to treat acne caused by PCOS

Anyone affected by PCOS may experience acne on the face, back, neck, and chest. You can try to cure it with some home remedies.

Follow a gluten-free diet

A diet free of processed sugar and carbohydrates helps increase insulin sensitivity. A gluten-free diet should be adopted to control PCOS-related acne. Some studies suggest that limiting dairy helps with acne and other symptoms of PCOS. A low carbohydrate diet should be adopted.

2 Check your testosterone and insulin levels

Along with the diet, the testosterone level will also need to be checked. Certain diets can help lower testosterone levels naturally. Omega 3 fatty acids, ashwagandha, diindolylmethane (DIM), vitamin D, calcium-D-glucarate, black cumin, peppermint tea, dong quai root can be extremely helpful.

A healthy lifestyle is developed with the right kind of food and regular exercise. This helps in correcting insulin resistance. Food supplements such as aloe vera, flaxseed, licorice root, fenugreek, cod liver oil can increase insulin sensitivity. If you are fasting, monitor your blood sugar. Cook food with herbs and spices that have anti-hyperglycemic effects.

3 Add probiotics to your diet

PCOS and acne are linked to gut health. Intestinal microflora influences inflammation. It can also have a significant effect on cystic acne. Probiotic supplements are an easy way to ensure gut health. Therefore, natural probiotics can also be included in the diet.

Bone broth, kefir, kombucha, buttermilk, yogurt and other fermented foods can be included in the menu. They contain healthy probiotic bacteria.

Eat 4 anti-inflammatory foods

Inflammation can be fought with the right diet. Natural foods such as seasonal fruit-vegetables and lean meat can be consumed. Leafy greens like spinach, mustard greens, lettuce, arugula, collards and coconut oil also have anti-inflammatory properties.

You can also include butter, ghee, olive oil, sesame oil, avocado, fatty fish, nuts, seeds in your diet. Turmeric, ginger, garlic and green tea should also be part of your diet when you are affected by PCOS.

5 Exercise regularly

Exercise improves insulin resistance. Along with this, you can also try brisk walking, cycling, dancing, swimming and yoga. Weight loss and muscle building exercises can be especially helpful in this. Because they help the body to be more sensitive to insulin.

6 Drink a lot of water

Water is important to stay hydrated. This will not only help balance the body’s pH level, but also eliminate inflammation.

Water helps carry nutrients and vitamins to the skin cells. It also helps in removing toxins from the body. This will also clear acne caused by PCOS.
