Vitamin C has antioxidant properties that protect your cells from substances that can harm your body. If your child has a cold, vitamin C supplements may reduce symptoms and speed up recovery. Let’s learn from nutritionist Anita Jena which fruits can help your child’s immunity and which drinks to mix together to make these 3 immune-boosting drinks.

1 green apple, carrot and orange

Carrots, apples and oranges are the perfect combination to help your body defend itself and fight infection.

Apples and oranges give you vitamin C. Vitamin A is important for a healthy immune system. Carrots contain the antioxidant beta carotene.

Carrots also contain vitamin B-6, which plays an important role in immune cell proliferation and antibody production.

Potassium in Carrots, Vitamin A in Carrots, Vitamin B6 in Carrots, Vitamin B-9 (Folic Acid) in Oranges, Vitamin C in Oranges and Apples

2 beets, carrots, ginger and apples

This fortified juice from Minimalist Baker contains three root vegetables to help your immune system and reduce symptoms of inflammation. Inflammation is usually an immune response to an infection caused by a virus or bacteria. Symptoms of a cold or flu include a runny nose, cough, and body aches.

Potassium in carrots, beets and apples, vitamin A in carrots and beets, vitamin B6 in carrots, vitamin B-9 (folic acid) in beets, vitamin C in apples juice of one beet, juice of one inch ginger two medium Cup-sized cups of this drink can be made by mixing carrot juice and apple juice.

3 strawberries and kiwi

Strawberries and kiwi are a healthy option to add to vitamin C-rich drinks. It takes about 4 cups of strawberries to make 1 cup of juice. You can add these fruits to smoothies instead of juices. While milk is a good source of protein and vitamin D when added to a smoothie, vitamin D is hard to find in juices made with just fruits or vegetables.

Many people are deficient in vitamin D, which is mostly found in sunlight and animal products. Reaching healthy levels through sunlight, diet, or supplements can reduce your risk of respiratory infections such as pneumonia or the flu.

Several recent studies have shown an association between vitamin D deficiency and infection rates and severity. Clinical trials are needed to determine this. Replace a few ounces of probiotic-rich Greek yogurt with milk. Taking probiotics helps maintain the antibacterial barrier of cells. Probiotics are commonly found in supplements and fermented foods.
