What is gastroparesis?

In this position, the abdominal muscles tighten to move food through the digestive system. If you have gastroparesis, nerve damage from high blood sugar can weaken or stop these muscles from working. Therefore, your stomach does not empty properly and it may take a long time for your food to leave the stomach.
