The Holi festival is considered to be one of the biggest festivals of the year. In other words, a sweet excuse to enjoy with your nearest and dearest. Due to the same chemical color and sensitive skin, many people often start avoiding playing Holi. Since childhood I have loved playing Holi a lot. But since I have sensitive skin, I developed skin allergies very quickly. The effect of the colors remained on the hands, feet and hair for several days. Therefore, I stopped coming out of the house for many days. Seeing my problem, my mother advised me to follow some skin care advice. Following these tips (skin and hair care on holi) gave me so much that now I don’t face any problem after playing Holi.
If you often face a similar problem, then these special tips told by my mother may be useful for you –
1. Oil massage before Holi
A day before Holi, the whole body is massaged with body oil. You can also use almond oil, coconut oil or olive oil for this. It hydrates the skin, due to which the skin absorbs less color the next day. For hair, you can make a bun by applying oil on the roots or you can leave half hair open by tying a cloth on half hair.
2. Two hours before playing Holi
It is very important to apply body lotion on the body just one hour before playing Holi. This will create a layer of moisture on the skin which will protect the skin from chemical dyes. You can also protect the areas around the eyes by applying Vaseline. Rub baby oil on eyelids and nails. Also wear clothing with full sleeves to avoid direct contact with the colors.

3. Skin care after Holi
To remove the color, add rice flour to the body wash and clean the skin with a loofah. According to the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, ferulic acid is also found in rice flour along with essential elements. Which improves the health of the skin by increasing the stability of vitamins A and E in the skin.
Apart from this, you can also clean the color by adding water to gram flour. But use only chemical-free gentle face wash for the face. With this, the color comes out quickly, just as it does not harm your skin. Skin becomes dry due to excess color and sun exposure, so don’t forget to apply nourishing body lotion and face moisturizer after bathing. To deep cleanse the skin, do a home facial the day after Holi.
4. Hair care is also important
Take precautions in advance to protect hair from chemical dyes. But if the hair has come into contact with the color, definitely use a cleansing shampoo for this. This will not affect the colors of the hair.
After shampooing, conditioner is applied to the length of the hair. Use color-protecting conditioner for color-treated hair. A day after Holi, make sure you use a hair mask to deep clean your hair.
5. Do not stay in wet clothes for a long time
Don’t avoid this special tip, even by mistake. Staying in wet clothes for a long time can cause skin rashes, because rashes occur when the skin is wet for a long time. At the same time, the color starts to come easily on the skin with wet clothes. Therefore, it can be difficult to remove the color later. Apart from this, colors today are made with many chemicals. Which can prove harmful to the skin by penetrating your skin pores.
