Pregnancy is the most important stage in a woman’s life. Taking care of the health of mother and child is very important. Any wrong steps can cause harm to the health and life of the child and mother. That’s why not only mothers, sisters, grandmothers, but also your neighbors and co-workers are constantly giving you some advice or whatever. Some people refuse to eat some food during this time, while others will ask you to eat food for two. During this nutrition week, let us know the right answers to some of the important questions related to nutrition during pregnancy.

If you’re pregnant too, here are some important questions you should know

1 Can I drink coffee during pregnancy?

According to the National Institute for Biotechnology Information, caffeine slightly increases your blood pressure and heart rate as well as the amount of urine your body produces. Caffeine can cause heartburn, indigestion, or trouble sleeping.

During pregnancy, you may be especially sensitive to caffeine. If you are pregnant, it may take longer for you to remove it from your body. It can also make you nervous or dizzy.

Remember to limit caffeine to 200 mg per day during pregnancy. One cup of coffee is enough for the whole day. If you are breastfeeding, drinking coffee twice a day is enough.

2 Should pregnant women avoid certain foods?

Yes, you really should avoid certain types of diets during pregnancy. There’s also a list of foods you shouldn’t eat during pregnancy, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Reduce intake of fish dishes

Avoid raw fish. Raw or undercooked foods to avoid include sushi, sashimi, ceviche, and raw oysters, scallops, or clams. Avoid raw seafood. This includes seafood labelled nova style, lox, kippard, smoked or jerky.

eggplant

Eggplant is a common food eaten by all Indian households. It is thought to help treat amenorrhea and premenstrual disorders. Therefore, on this basis, it is recommended not to eat eggplant during pregnancy.

raw milk

Milk should be boiled slightly before consumption, as milk bacteria are killed during the boiling process. Boiling inhibits disease-causing microbes, which can be detrimental to the baby’s development. Milk is of course important, but it has to be pasteurized.

3 Should I eat the equivalent of two people during pregnancy?

No, it’s a myth that pregnant women should “eat for two”. While pregnancy increases the body’s calorie and nutrient needs, it does not double the amount of calories or nutrients.

According to the CDC, your normal intake during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy requires about 300 calories per day. For example, you can eat a slice of bread and an ounce of cheddar to make up eight ounces.
