This study shows that drinking green tea can overcome obesity-related problems. It may help to cut calories a little at a time by increasing your metabolic rate. The compounds present in it activate fat-burning hormones.

1. Low Calories

High calorie intake and low physical activity in the diet can lead to obesity, which can lead to many physical problems. Meanwhile, a 245-gram cup of green tea contains only 2.45 calories. Due to its low calorie content, drinking it will not gain weight, and it is also beneficial for weight loss. It is a natural drink that can be prepared in just 5 to 7 minutes.

2. Green tea rich in catechins

Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), found in green tea, is a catechin. Catechin is a phenolic compound found in tea. Green tea contains 50-80% EGCG of total catechins. This EGCG in green tea has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, anti-cancer and antioxidant properties. According to Japanese studies, if 690 mg of catechins are consumed daily for 12 weeks, body mass index (BMI) and body fat can be reduced.

3. Reduce hunger

Drinking green tea reduces appetite. In fact, a compound found in it called epigallocatechin gallate can reduce appetite. Meanwhile, a study by Swedish scientists published on the NCBI website found that drinking green tea helps reduce hunger.

4. Helps reduce belly fat

According to research published on the NCBI website, increased abdominal fat, known as obesity, can lead to conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers. Green tea can help reduce the symptoms of this problem to a great extent. Green tea contains sufficient amounts of catechins.

5. Regulate genes associated with obesity

Polyphenols (GTPs) in green tea are thought to be beneficial in reducing obesity. A study in mice has been published on the NCBI website. Polyphenols in green tea have been found to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and may be effective in controlling genes associated with obesity. In this way, in addition to preventing the increase in obesity, this tea also helps in weight loss.
