We often believe in the myth that oily skin is more prone to skin problems like acne or pimples. But dry skin is even more difficult to manage. It can only be the main cause of wrinkles, scaly skin, dry lips and even acne. For some people, dry skin seems harmless, but if not properly cared for, it can result in many serious skin problems. Including dermatitis or eczema. In such a situation, many people think of applying a moisturizing cream, the nourishing effects of skin oil cannot be compared with anything. Yes, face oil can do wonders for dry skin!

Is using facial oil beneficial?

Our skin naturally produces oils and lipids that help prevent water loss from the skin and keep it hydrated. But in dry skin conditions, natural oil production is reduced. This is why using facial oil for dry skin improves skin health.

Health Shots spoke to Dr Amit Bangia, Senior Consultant Dermatologist, Asian Hospital, Faridabad about the benefits of facial oils. Find out from them which skin oils are best for dry skin.

Dr. Bangia says, “Essential fatty acids present in facial oils help hydrate the skin, provide essential nutrients and heal dry, chapped and cracked skin. Not only that, they also lock in hydration and add shine.

Here are 5 facial oils for dry skin:

1. Argan oil

Dry skin can be removed with argan oil. It provides an anti-sebum effect that can control sebum production on your skin. This oil can promote smooth, calm skin by treating a variety of skin conditions, including dry skin and acne. Apply it directly to your skin at least twice a day or use a skin cream containing argan oil.

2. Coconut oil

We all have fond memories of watching our grandmothers use coconut oil on our skin. Coconut oil helps manage dry skin and slows down the aging process. Coconut oil can improve the appearance of your skin due to its high content of vitamins E and K, antifungal and antibacterial effects, and antibacterial properties.

3. Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is great for soothing and calming skin irritation and redness. In fact, jojoba oil has many therapeutic benefits that can help treat skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. Use it as a cleanser, moisturizer or spot treatment to reap its benefits. It usually does not need to be diluted and can be applied to any part of the body, including the face.

4. Olive oil

Olive oil is especially beneficial for dry, cracked skin in winter. It is a great skin moisturizer, especially when applied to wet skin when the pores are open. Olive oil also hydrates the skin and kills bacteria thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

5. Grape oil

Grape seeds can be used to moisturize dry, dull skin, even out skin tone, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Because linoleic acid and vitamin E protect the skin from environmental damage, they help increase its elasticity and help retain moisture. In addition, the astringent in grape seed oil helps to tone and tighten the skin.

Tips to keep in mind while using facial oil:

Avoid direct sunlight and use sunscreen, especially when using facial oils, as some of them make your skin a little sensitive to the sun. If your skin is very dry and rough, you can use the oil day and night. Always cleanse your face before applying facial oil.
