Rain is the season of the disease. In such a situation, there is a great possibility of getting viral fever, dengue, malaria. Typhus is also one of these. It is a type of bacterial infection caused by contaminated water or food. It affects the intestinal tract and then spreads to the bloodstream. It is also called “Intestinal fever” because it primarily affects our intestines.

It is caused by bacteria called Salmonella typhi. Poor hygiene, lack of clean drinking water and contaminated food are common causes of typhus. If you or your child has typhoid, these home remedies for typhoid along with medical treatment can also help you recover quickly (How to Cure Typhoid)

1. Increase the intake of liquids

Typhoid fever can cause vomiting and diarrhea, which can lead to severe dehydration. Continue to drink fluids to avoid dehydration. Staying hydrated also helps in timely elimination of waste materials and toxins from the body. Apart from water, consume fruit juice, coconut water and soups.

In such a situation, ORS is the best solution to deal with dehydration. Make sure you have the WHO recommended ORS. Buy a bag from any pharmacy. You can also make it at home by mixing sugar and salt in a liter of boiled water.

2. Drink Tulsi tea or decoction

According to the NCBI, Holy Basil is antibiotic and antimicrobial. Mix basil in boiled water and drink three to four cups daily. Tulsi boosts immunity and soothes the stomach. Drinking its tea will also help you get rid of the infection.

3. Use a cold compress

Use cold compresses to fight high fever and lower body temperature. You can sponge the child’s armpits, legs, groin and hands. Fever is most effectively reduced by applying cold compresses to the extremities. You can also soak a washcloth in ice cold water and squeeze it tightly and place it on the forehead.

4. Eat garlic

The antimicrobial properties of garlic help fight typhoid bacteria. It speeds recovery from typhoid due to its antioxidant properties. It increases immunity and detoxifies the body. Eat two cloves on an empty stomach. It is not suitable for pregnant women and children.

5. Eat bananas

Bananas can reduce fever and cause diarrhea in people with typhoid. It contains pectin, a soluble fiber that helps the intestines absorb fluid and thus treats diarrhea. Potassium present in bananas helps to replenish the electrolytes lost due to diarrhea.
