The Ministry has told what to do and what not to do to avoid a heat wave (Government guidelines for dealing with a heat wave).

A heat wave is a state of temperature, when it increases, it becomes fatal for the human body. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), heat waves occur in India from March to June and in some cases extend to July. In 2016, severe heat wave conditions hit Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

Avoid going out in the hot sun as much as possible. Going out in the afternoon between 12:00 and 3:00 can put you in the grip of a heat wave. You should avoid going out when the sun is strong.

Avoid fizzy and carbonated drinks
