Most people only know that doing yoga asanas keeps the heart healthy. However, yoga is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. But the reality is that yoga does not cure all diseases. It also has some limitations. All yoga poses are accompanied by breathing exercises. So your respiratory system will benefit the most from it. Yoga also affects blood circulation to a great extent. This can sometimes be bad for the heart. You can take proper care of your heart health, so today we’re going to tell you about yoga asanas that people with heart disease shouldn’t do.
In fact, there are many such questions related to yoga that cardiologists are asking them on a large scale these days. If you’re a heart patient and you’re doing yoga, it’s important for you to know the answers to these questions. So let us tell you today about this pranayama that any heart patient should avoid.
According to Dr. Sudhanshu Shekhar Parida of Cardiac Science at Max Health Care Hospital, yoga is the solution to all heart problems. We all practice certain asanas that reduce the risk of heart disease. But you also have to understand that yoga is not the cure for all heart disease, and it has its limitations.
According to Dr. Parida, you should avoid poses like this, which put more stress on your heart. Try to avoid inverted poses as the heart pumps blood against gravity to supply the legs and arms, which puts more stress on the heart.
Here are some poses that people with heart disease should avoid
1. Chakrasana (Wheel)
This pose requires a lot of strength and a balanced breathing pattern, which puts a lot of stress on your heart. This allows the heart to pump blood faster. In this way, more heart pumping can further increase the risk of heart disease.
2. Viparita Karani Asana (Simple Handstand Pose)
To practice this asana, you must lie on your back and lift your legs and hips supported by your hands. People at risk of heart attack should avoid this pose entirely. This puts pressure on your body to circulate blood to your lower body. This can cause a rapid rise in blood pressure, which can be harmful to people with heart disease.

3. West Sasana
This is an inverted position that forces the heart to pump against gravity, which creates pressure on the lower body. Drawing blood against gravity is not good for the heart at all. Also, it can cause chest pain. Therefore, heart patients should avoid doing this yoga.
4. Halasana (Plow)
This yoga pose is also effective for circulating blood to the lower body. This yoga circulates the blood against gravity. As a result, the pressure on the organs increases. It can also increase blood flow to the heart, which is fraught with risks.
5. Shoulder stand
In this asana, you must stand on your shoulders, applying full pressure to your upper body. When you’re in this position, your heart has to work harder against gravity to circulate blood, which puts more stress on the heart.
Dr. Sudhanshu Shekhar advises heart patients to avoid doing all these yoga asanas, which stress your heart. In addition to this, you should also avoid yoga asanas that can affect your circulation and blood pressure, thereby stressing your heart even more. In this case, the correct approach is that heart patients must consult their doctor before doing any yoga asana.
