There are many options on the market to remove unwanted body hair. Such as waxing, shaving, shaving cream or hair removal cream. A question always arises in the minds of some people, does shaving and waxing increase hair growth or make it harder and coarser than before? So let’s know if these are myths about waxing or reality.
Dr Rinki Kapoor, Consultant Dermatologist, Cosmetic Dermatologist and Dermatologist, The Aesthetic Clinic shared the video on her Insta page. In which he talks about the myths surrounding shaving and waxing.
Does shaving and waxing increase hair growth? (Waxing Myths)
According to Dr. Kapoor, shaving and waxing does not increase hair growth. That’s just a myth. Hair growth is actually a genetic matter. Shaving and waxing prevent hair from growing thick and fast. Even shaving does not cause hair follicles to grow. Basically, the hair follicles are deep inside the skin and shaving does not affect them in any way. Shaving can speed up hair growth. Therefore, the use of waxing is considered a better option.
Waxing is a better option in the long term
1. Softens the skin
Waxing can help maintain skin elasticity, especially cold waxing. Cold wax has properties that soothe and at the same time retain moisture in the skin. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that waxing can help keep the skin soft.
2. Keeps skin glowing
Apart from getting rid of unwanted hair, the benefits of waxing can also be seen for glowing skin. Basically, dead skin can be easily removed by waxing. Apart from this, it is also helpful in reducing skin tan. This process can help maintain the glow of the skin.
3. Slow down hair growth
Although there are many options available in the market such as razors, shaving cream and depilatory cream to remove unwanted hair, not all of them can be considered as beneficial as waxing. All of these options can remove unwanted hair, but there the hair will start coming out again at the same rate.
At the same time, this is not the case with waxing. Its specialty is that it can remove hair from the roots and also limit its growth. Hair is supposed to start falling out after 2 to 8 weeks of waxing.
4. Remove short hairs from the roots
In the waxing process, the hair is removed from the root. Especially when using hot wax. Hot waxing can remove even the smallest hairs from the roots compared to cold waxing.
If your hair grows faster, is very hard or you have a problem after waxing and shaving, be sure to consult a dermatologist immediately.
