It is considered good to apply oil to maintain healthy hair. After all, it is an Ayurvedic way to keep your hair healthy. It was believed that shampooing your hair with natural oils could make your hair stronger and better. However, we should know that different types of hair and scalp require different hair care. Therefore, it is not always a good idea to apply oil to the scalp. Let us know what to keep in mind before applying hair oil.
Dermatologist Dr. Anupriya Goel posted an interesting video on Instagram where she said that you should not apply oil on your scalp as it can adversely affect your hair.
According to the expert: “Applying the oil has certain benefits and frequent massages definitely increase blood circulation to the scalp. Because of this, hair growth improves. But there are many situations where you should avoid applying oil to your scalp.”
4 situations in which you should avoid oiling your hair
1. Russian
Do not apply the oil if you have dandruff on your scalp. Oiling your hair could be a big mistake! Dandruff is a very common problem that people face today and it causes the scalp to flake off. It is neither serious nor contagious. Dandruff on our scalp is caused by a fungus called Malassezia, which actually causes oil on the scalp, so if you put oil on your hair, it will get worse.
2. Pimples on the forehead
If you have acne on your face or forehead, the oil can clog your pores and make acne worse. If you have oily hair, the oil can appear on your face and cause acne and skin problems. To avoid this condition, wash your hair every day to remove excess oil from your forehead, face and back.
3. Pimples on the scalp
Bacterial infections of hair follicles cause abscesses that can affect the surrounding tissue. An infected hair follicle can appear on any part of your body.
If you have sores on your scalp and apply oil to it, it can attract more dirt and cause a bacterial infection. Therefore, experts suggest that you should categorically avoid applying the oil when you have ulcers on your scalp. Also, if the ulcers on the scalp persist for a long time and do not heal, it is best to see a doctor.
4. Oily scalp
If your hair is already oily, the chances of dust build-up on the scalp, irritation and other scalp problems increase. This can also cause severe hair loss. Apply oil to your hair once every few weeks. If it works, try it every week.
If you are facing any of the above problems, avoid oiling your hair as it can make the situation worse.
