Tomato flu is believed to be caused by coxsackieviruses A-6 and A-16. Tomato flu is commonly called HFMD, which means hand, foot and mouth disease. Children may also be at risk of developing chikungunya or dengue after this illness. Children between the ages of one and five have red eyes due to this virus.
